Ramblings from the Ramrod

December 2008

Here we are at the end of anther year with 12 more great shoots behind us, more if you shoot other places. It has been a good year for our club; we have quite a few new members and we even saw a few older members that had not been around in quite a while. There are still quite a few cowboys and cowgirls that have not been with us for quite some time. I sure would like to see some of those people show up sometime in 2009.

I want to remind everyone that the SMSO will be March 26th – 28th in 2009; we need as many volunteers as we can get to make this the best match so far. Get with Keystone to volunteer your services. We will need people all three days along with a group on Sunday to help clean up the range. Please plan on helping if you can.

A few things at the range, please do not park your vehicle up near our first stage. I would like all vehicles to be kept from bay 2 down to the parking lot. If you are handicapped we will work with you and if you have something to sell please drop it off and use a tent or use your tailgate down at bay 2.
Second, the shoot is not over until all the steel is put up, please stick around and help your posse put up targets before you just pack up and leave.

The club has voted to sponsor the 2010 Tennessee State Shoot if Wartrace decides to give it up and ORSA chooses to host it. I will keep everyone informed on this as it progresses. I started this newsletter before Christmas and was about to send it to Digi-Guns to post when I got an email from Will Riley at Wartrace. I have been informed that the 2009 Tennessee State Shoot will be in Memphis and the Wartrace Regulators would apply for the 2010 State shoot again, so at this time the Tennessee State Shoot will alternate between Memphis and Wartrace. We will continue to host the Smoky Mountain Shoot-Out. If somewhere down the line we want to host the Tennessee State Shoot we can apply to SASS.

Set-up has been announced for January 3rd in conjunction with Last Kiss teaching both RO1 and ROII. We will also have a shooters class if anyone would like to attend one. Set-up at about 12:30, shooters class at about 2:00. Come visit and pitch in to get the range set-up for the New Year.

Lady Tombstone and I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year. Be safe and have fun.

See everyone next year!!!!!

Until next time, keep your powder dry and your lead down range.

Long Days and Pleasant Nights,
Tennessee Tombstone
