Ramblings from the Ramrod

June 2008

It was another great shoot with stages written by Moonshine Roberts with a little history thrown in to help stimulate the mind. Thanks Moonshine for the stages and the history lesson.

We had a good size group show up for set-up and clean-up on the Sunday before the shoot. I do believe we will have the same arrangement next month but that will be Fast Harley’s call since that is the weekend of July 4th. We will need as much help as we can get since the heat can be a little overwhelming that time of the year. Also, the quicker we get done the sooner we can start shooting. Yes we shoot after set-up and have a great time shooting different styles and sequences.

If you have some stages you would like to see shot, please submit them to Fast Harley so he can peruse them for timing and safety. We try to keep each stage an average of 30 seconds for all shooters. That means some will shot in the 20’s and some will shoot in the 40’s but all should average to around 30 seconds.

We also had five new shooters attend the orientation class we are now offering. If you know anyone who want to start shooting with us this is a great opportunity for them to learn about CAS and SMSS along with what happens during a shoot and anything else I can demo for them. We will be holding another class in conjunction with the set-up.

The Smoky Mountain Shoot-Out will be the March 26th – 28th, 2009. We have swapped the second weekend with the forth weekend in March so we will not have a regular shoot next March. We are talking about invading another club but that is a ways down the road.

There are a lot of state shoots coming up so if you want to attend a SASS sanctioned shoot plan on attending one of our neighboring states such as the Alabama State shoot October 3rd – 5th or the Tennessee State shoot hosted by the Wartrace Regulators October 9th – 11th over in Wartrace, TN. I mention these two shoot since they have both agreed to recognize the Outlaw Class and I will be attending both of them.

Until next time keep your powder dry and your lead down range.

See everyone next month,
