8th Annual
Smoky Mountain Shoot-Out
April 7–9, 2011
As you may remember, in the fall of 2009, tired of relentless pursuit from lawmen
and bounty hunters, and hard times in the U.S., the Smoky Mountain Outlaw took
the Hole-in-the-Bar Gang for an extended foray into Mexico.
The Smoky Mountain Outlaw’s favorite soiled dove, Rebecca Jean Derryberry,
gleefully confided to this SMSS Gazette reporter—after one too many
margaritas—that things haven’t gone quite as planned south of the border.
A product of his times, the Smoky Mountain Outlaw lives by a code all his own. And
though full of courage and honor, his way—the Outlaw Way—is still well outside the
law…and despised by “polite society.” As such—and the fact that there is less to
steal there than here—the Outlaw has decided to head back to the hills of East
Tennessee.
The gang is planning to stop at various ranches, forts, and outposts along the way,
creating mayhem and confusion as they go. Miss Derryberry quotes the Outlaw as
saying, “We’ll be headed back across the Rio Grande with a vengeance.”
With this exciting news SMSS hereby confirms and announces the eighth annual
Smoky Mountain Shoot-Out, April 7–9, 2011, hosted by Oak Ridge Sportsmen’s
Association and the ORSA Cowboys. Mark your calendars now! It’s gonna be a wild
ride that you don’t want to miss!
SMSS thanks you for your past and continued support of the Smoky Mountain
Shoot-Out. We look forward to seeing everyone in Oak Ridge, TN, the second
weekend in April 2011.
