We welcome shooters of all skill levels and abilities, but we must request
that the use of motorized guncarts be limited to those who need them for
disability and/or handicap reasons. If you must use a motorized guncart we
do require that they are kept to the opposite side of the road from the stages.
Shooter Sign-In
Early Shooter Sign-In is located at the DoubleTree Hotel Lobby on
Wednesday evening April 6, from 5pm until 9pm. Regular Shooter Sign-In
is located at The Cowboy Emporium (Oak Ridge Civic Center) on Thursday
April 7, from 9am until 9pm. Last minute Shooter Sign-In is located at
The Range on Friday morning, April 8, from 7am until 8am.
Range Access
Only registered shooters, match officials, and registered media will be
allowed inside the loading and unloading areas. Guests and non-shooting
persons MAY NOT enter these areas.
Safety Meetings
Safety Meetings are held at The Range on Friday, April 8 at 8am and 12pm.
Shooters must attend a Safety Meeting prior to shooting Main Match Stages. If
you do not attend a Safety Meeting, you will not be allowed to shoot.
Brass
Brass may be picked up after each shooter completes his/her course of
fire during the Main Match. However, with a tight shooting schedule of
45 minutes per stage, delaying the stage for brass pick-up cannot be
allowed.
Eye and Ear Protection
All spectators and participants must wear eye and ear protection when in
and around the shooting areas. Eye and ear protection is mandatory and is
available at the entrances to the spectator areas.
Ammo Requirements
Each of the 10 main stages requires ammo for 10 pistol, 10 rifle, and up to
6 shotgun. Additional ammo is needed for Thursday Side Matches.
Sass Rules and Scoring Standards
SASS rules and scoring standards will be in effect during the shoot. The
shooter is ultimately responsible for his or her own actions. Bad coaching or
instructions is not grounds to overturn a call.
Scoring
All scores must be recorded on the correct score sheet. Each posse will have a
scoring notebook that is to accompany them from stage to stage. Each stage
will have its own score sheet. Be sure the scores are entered on the correct
stage. The scoring notebook is to be turned in to the Stage Marshal at the
end of the shooting day for processing. The notebooks can be picked up the
next morning from the Stage Marshal at the posse’s first stage. Results will be
tabulated in the evening and posted as quickly as possible.
Posse System
Two Posses are scheduled to shoot through a stage at a time. One Posse
will run the stage while the other Posse shoots and vice versa. Assignments
will be made within the Posse to time the competitors, keep score, count
misses, and look for procedural and safety violations, and supervise loading
and unloading. Each Posse must ensure at least three other Posse members
have been assigned responsibility to watch the targets and judge shooters’
performances. Once Posse Leaders have declared they understand the course
of fire, it is up to the Posse to make sure all members understand the stage
and its nuances. Coaching is allowed (and encouraged). It is not the timer’s
responsibility to count hits and misses. Please! No lolly-gagging—keep moving!
Stage Marshals
Stage Marshals are assigned to monitor individual events and ensure
consistency from stage to stage. Stage Marshals’ instructions as to rules and
procedures for each stage are binding, even if they seem in conflict with the
written course description. Stage Marshals observe (in a back-up capacity),
noting misses and looking for safety violations and procedural errors.
