April 2007 Newsletter:

Huge storms and nearly 100% chance of heavy rain had been predicted for our April match and, consequently, only 28 hardy shooters registered for the match. Fortunately the rain held off for the most part until the last shot was fired and then we had one heck of a toadstrangler. Everyone commented on how much better the range was since all the work was done for the annual match in March. Our hard work is paying off!

We had one new shooter, Cheyenne Wyatt, who came out to shoot with us in spite of the gloomy weather forecast,. He also became our newest club member. Welcome aboard pard; you will enjoy cowboy action shooting – its addictive!

Congratulations to Widowmaker who was the top gun for April, shootin’ Gunfighter, and beat out Fiddleback for first place. Lightning McCoy placed third and Anvil came in fourth. Red Neckerson, Keystone, Moonshine Roberts, Tennessee Tombstone, Hawkeye and El Carrera rounded out the top ten.

Feather Dancer, shootin’ Ladies Senior, was the top lady shooter. Two Dogs Runin, our only Lady Outlaw, came in second.

Posse Reports:

Posse One: Lightning McCoy seems to be getting a little forgetful, like most of us seniors, but did a good job leading the posse anyway. It was a fun posse; everyone was out to have a good time and was determined not to let the weather interfere with this mission. They shot well too, 11 or the sixteen top shooters were on this posse with Lightning McCoy, Anvil, Keystone, Moonshine Roberts, Hawkeye and El Carrera in the top ten. The only challenge we had was to keep up with the creative ways posse three shot the stages ahead of us. Caliber 45 had a miss on the last stage and would have had a clean match; but he was the only one on our posse to get both bonuses on stage four – good shootin’. Cactus Jack must have had a birthday recently because he was shootin’ traditional instead of in the Junior category. Jim Mayo is working hard on making the transition from Double Duelist to Outlaw. Shenandoah Will had some initial hiccups with his rifle but things smoothed out by the third stage. It was good to see Yankee Shiner come out and shoot with us again. Yukon Hootch again was steady, shootin Duelist with his Remingtons, and placed second. Tennessee Hawk also was second in his category (Senior).
