August 2008 Newsletter:

Sixty nine shooters signed up for the August match.  Four new shooters were welcomed to the match:

- Slim Shot Dave
- Wichita Filly
- Wolf

Welcome also to five new club members; Kingston Kid, Slim Shot Dave, Wichita Filly, Pleasant and Mrs Pleasant.  Welcome aboard.    

The top two shooters this month kept it in the family.  SA Pondwater (Modern) managed to stay ahead of Tabasco Jot (49er) and both had a clean match.  Fiddleback (Traditional) placed third.  Pleasant, one of four Gunfighters in the top ten, came in fourth.  They were followed by Marshal Too Tall (49er), Last Kiss (Gunfighter), Tucson Tuco (Senior), Fast Harley (Gunfighter), T-Bone Angus (B-Western) and Keystone (Gunfighter).

The top lady this month was Iron Maiden (Ladies Duelist).  The rest of the top ten ladies were Wichita Filly (Ladies Traditional), Mrs Pleasant (Ladies 49er), Tequila Liz (Ladies Traditional), Feather Dancer (Ladies Senior), Kat McCandles (Ladies Tradional) and Triple J (Ladies Traditional). 

The Smoky Mountain Shootist Society is one of the largest clubs the country.  Many of you renewed your memberships, and thanks for that.  Renewals are due January first with a grace period though the April match.  Those of you who have not yet done so, please do so soon, so that we can continue to be such a strong club.  The fee is $40 and can be sent to SMSS, P.O. Four shooters shot clean in August.  They were: Blake the Snake, Mrs Pleasant, SA Pondwater and Tabasco Jot.  Eleven shooters had four stages and 15 had three stages with no misses.

Five Stages

Four Stages
Dusty Camino, Hallelujah Hawkeye, Keystone, Marshal Too Tall, Moonshine Roberts, Pistol Creek, Tennessee Hoss, Top Dollar Bill, Vinegarroon, Yankee Dutchman and Yukon Hootch.

Three Stages
Bittercreek Jack, Cherokee Deacon, Fast Harley, Fiddleback, Horseshoe John, Last Kiss, Lightning McCoy, Outcast, Owlhoot Hardin, Pleasant, T-Bone Angus, Tenn Critr, Tucson Tuco, Wichita Filly and Wildcat Wilkey.  . 

Two Stages

One Stage
