May 2008 Newsletter:

As it should be, the weather for the monthly match in May was exceptional.  Seventeen visitors joined us for a fun match.  The stages were designed by Deadeye Diamond who did a terrific job and drew many positive comments.  It was also the first Josey Wales match for our club, and by all accounts, it was a great success.  Congratulations to Last Kiss who vanquished Fast Harley and six other Josey Wales shooters.

It was SA Pondwater again; He has been remarkably consistent as the top gun at our monthly match.  Congratulations!  Tall Drink A Water, shooting gunfighter, placed second and Festus D. Deputy, who won the 49er category, was third.  The rest of the top 10 were Marshal Too Tall (49er), Tabasco Jot (49er), T-Bone Angus (top senior), Fiddleback (first in traditional), Tenn Critr (Elder Statesman), Slater (traditional) and Clancy O’Conall (also traditional).

The top lady this month was Iron Maiden (Ladies Duelist).  The rest of the top ten ladies were Roma Jane (Ladies 49er), Short Cake (Ladies Traditional), Feather Dancer (Ladies Senior), Moab Mab (Ladies Tradional) and Triple J (Ladies Traditional).

The Smoky Mountain Shootist Society is one of the largest clubs the country.  Many of you renewed your memberships, and thanks for that.  Renewals are due January first with a grace period though the April match.  Those of you who have not yet done so, please do so soon, so that we can continue to be such a strong club.  The fee is $40 and can be sent to SMSS, P.O. Box 32894, Knoxville, Tennessee 37930.
