Ramblings from the Ramrod

August 2007

We had a really good shoot in August. It did get warm but not to bad and there was plenty of water around to keep everyone hydrated. The stages were written by our own Preacher Red based on things from his life and times. The names had been changed to protect the not so innocent. There was plenty of targets not to much movement and the props were reminisce of old times. What, isn’t that what we are doing, reminiscing of old times.

We are having a workers appreciation dinner at ORSA on August 26th. We will open the action pistol range at about 3:00 and have dinner at the clubhouse at about 6:00. We need to get an idea of how many people we might expect so call me or post something on the forum to let us know. We will be having hamburgers and hotdogs with the works along with chips, soft drinks, water and some adult beverages. Everyone is invited along with their spouse or significant other (not both please, this is a gun range.)

We are getting a lot of new shooters at each shoot, if you see someone that looks lost or that you do not recognize introduce yourself and welcome them to SMSS. In that same vane we are also getting a lot of spectators at each shoot, if you see someone without ear or eye protection please tell them where we keep our extra or let one of the officers know about it.

If you would like to submit a stage design or a bunch of stage designs please feel free to give them to El Carrera. He will go over them to look for safety problems and work to getting your stages incorporated into a shoot in the near future.

It was good to see a bunch of cowboys who had been under the weather quite a bit. John Kummel showed up for a little while but the heat was too much for him and he had to leave before the shoot started, Yukon Hooch was around for a little while during the shoot. Hope to have you back shooting with us soon Yukon. Preacher Red wrote the stages and stayed until the end of the match and even went with us over to Cancun’s for a few minuets after the match. Speaking of Cancun’s, when I arrive there after the match there sat one of the cowgirls I have been missing so much, Dangnabit Deb looking great as usual.

I hope to see everyone on Sunday the 26th for the cook-out
